WRASC Annual End OF Season RIDE & Potluck BBQ

WRASC will be holding our annual End OF Season RIDE/Potluck BBQ at our Riverside Farm Trails just outside Fair Haven, VT on Sunday Oct. 25.

Riding will begin around 10 AM with lunch around 12:30 and then go back our riding for the afternoon. We have a warming hut if the weather is cool but last year was a picture perfect warm fall day. There is power for crock pots so bring it if you have them for warm foods. The club will have hot dogs and soda and coffee. So bring a hot dish, cold dish, or desert to share. This ride has been a real hit the last few years with members from all over joining us. It is a real treat. Hope to see many of you there!
WRASC’s trails closure dates are Oct 1st for all trails but Riverside Farm Trails which close on Nov 1.

BMAC Trail Info

FYI-it is unfortunately that time of year where club trails will be closing for hunting season or the winter months.

Reminder, NCAA trails close October 1st as well and will be closed until December 15 with select trails open for winter to be determined.

BMAC trails close on Oct. 1 for the duration of hunting season at least through Dec. 15.
The Trail Head gate will be closed and locked Sept. 30 in the evening. So, this is your last chance to ride this weekend and coming week.

BMAC trails will be open the weekend of foliage for the Last Hoorah on Oct. 11.

As of Sept 24 we have another new landowner with a large amount of acreage signed to BMAC/VASA! That makes two in a little over a month! Roy and Dave Radaker checked out the trails with the landowners during the afternoon /evening and Roy said these are going to be good trails all connecting to our trail system and with great views.

The new landowner has agreed to our closing of his trails Oct. 1-May. No hunting, fishing, trapping. No camping or fires, stay on the trails, no littering. No snowmobiles or dirt bikes. ATV’s only.

We have little time left before the Last Hoorah but we will try to get some of the trails GPS’d on a map before that weekend. Other wise our trail patrol members will have to lead tours.

We are planning a busy winter, weather permitting in planning or working on trails. Thanks to all who have shown an interest in possible winter trail work.

The Mountain is starting to show a little color, in two weeks time she should be ready to welcome riders with a blaze of colors.

Hope to see you at the Last Hoorah! Happy and Safe trails
Connie

Joy Brook Bridge work party weekend.

This weekend’s work party was a great success.  Between our crew and the crew from the hunting club we managed to remove the old bridge, place the new culverts, build the head walls and clean up the mess left from the old bridge.  It rained steadily for most of the day on Saturday be we kept on working and got most of the stone work and back fill completed.  Sunday was a much dryer and nicer day.  We had a slightly larger turnout and split into several crews.  Some spent the day on clean up at the bridge site and a few smaller crews headed out onto the trails to fix water bars and trim back brush.  The hunting club provided food, drinks and an amazing amount of manual labor on both days helping the project come to completion.

A big THANK YOU! to everyone who turned out to help this weekend.  We couldn’t have done it without you. (Well, we probably could have but it wouldn’t have gone as quickly or been as much fun.)

Thank you to the volunteers from the hunting club: Leigh, Arthur, Tom, Seth, Bob M., Bob C., Kirk and Brian.  You were all a great help.  The food was excellent!

Thanks to the SVTR members who helped on the project: Ray & Ray, Shawn, Craig, Ron, Bill, Jessica, Ken and Kent.

Thank you to Mike C. who loaned us his equipment to do the work and for his continued support of our club(s).

Thank you the the few whose names didn’t make it onto the list.

Pictures from the weekend can be found here.

This project that has haunted us for the last year and a half is for the most part DONE! We will be back next weekend after the ground dries out a bit to grade and rake the trail and do a little more clean up.
