2010 SVTR Elections

This Thursday evening Jan. 21, 2010 At the Newbrook Fire Station in Newfane Vt. at 7:00 pm. is our next SVTR club meeting.This is an important meeting as we have 2 positions up for re-election.

( This meeting will be held weather permitting. Change of weather date is to be our February 18th meeting. )

Vice President and Secretary are the 2 positions.

The duties of Secretary are: To pass around a sign in sheet, take meeting minutes, give a report of the past meeting minutes, and turn in a typed copy to the President for files.

If anyone is interested in running for this position please let me know.

After talking with Ray Leeman our present Secretary last night, Ray will seek re-election.

The duties of Vice President are: To be our alternate representative on the VASA Board of Directors ( which means that if the President can’t make that once a month meeting they will if they can. ). Also their job is to attend the VASA Trails Committee meeting, submit any applications for trail project reimbursements and make a report to be given at the following SVTR club meeting, and also conduct the SVTR club meeting if the President is unable to.

After talking with Ed Smith our present Vice President last night, Ed has decided not to run for re-election.

This position must be filled and we need someone to step up.

I know I keep asking, and asking for more from all of you but this position is extremely important if we are to continue as a successful club.

December 17, 2009 Meeting & Annual Christmas Party

There is no official meeting agenda for tonight’s meeting but we will hold a 50/50 raffle, our regular Christmas raffle, pot luck dinner and we will be auctioning the first of two hand made birch coffee tables donated by Bill Cobb.

Bring a dish and come join the fun!

November 19, 2009 Meeting Report

Meeting called to order at:

Secretary’s report read and accepted.

Treasurer’s report read and accepted.

  • As of tonights meeting, SVTR has 107 Members with 93 VASA registered machines.
  • VASA reimbursed SVTR $2500 for the Joy brook culverts.

Webmasters report read and accepted.

Presidents Report:

  • Board of directors meeting was Nov, 9.
    • SVTR was approved for $2500 reimbursement for the Joy Brook bridge project.
  • There are presently 8 people interested in becoming VASA safety class instructors.
  • VASA annual meeting will be held on Jan 9, 2010 at the Canadian Club on Rt. 14 in Barre VT.  We will be voting for the offices of Secretary and President.
  • Reciprocity with NH is still in question but it’s leaning toward termination.  If terminated, this WILL effect the Mt. Washington ride in 2010.  All riders will require a NH registration and club membership.
  • NH residents will not need to show proof of sales tax paid since there is no sales tax in NH.

Old Business:

  • The raffle for a 2010 SVTR and VASA membership will continue until April 2010.  Drawing will be held at our April work party or our April meeting.
  • Our December meeting will also be a casual Christmas party.  Bring a dish to share and bring anything that you would like to donate for a raffle.

New business:

  • Sweatshirts are in.  Pricing has been set at $30 per shirt.  Colors are: Red, Green and Grey.  Sizes are: Lg, 1X, 2X and 3X
  • Club voted to donate $750 to charitable organizations.  The money will be split evenly between: SEVCA, Reformer Christmas Stocking and the Townshend Food Pantry.
  • 50/50 Raffle: $25.00

SVTR Silent Auction

One of our members, Bill Cobb, has donated two birch coffee tables that he built for a club fund raiser.  We are auctioning off these tables to the highest bidders.  There are two tables pictured below.  Table #1 has turned round legs. Table #2 has tapered square legs.  Table #1 will be auctioned at our December 17th Meeting.  Minimum bid is $50.00  This table will be on display at our November 19, 2009 meeting.  The auction will be completed during our December 17, 2009 meeting and we ask that all bids be in by December 14, 2009.  Table #2 will be auctioned at our April 2010 meeting.

October 15, 2009 Meeting Notes

Meeting started at: 7:12 pm

Secretaries report read and accepted.

Treasurers report read and accepted.

  • As of tonight’s meeting SVTR has 104 members with 90 registered machines.

Presidents report:

  • Before making a trip to another clubs trails, please call ahead for trail status as many closing dates will be based on trail conditions. Club contact info is available on the VASA trail map and the VASA website at http://vtvasa.org
  • Per a new VASA policy, clubs will no longer be selling trail access stickers when their trails are closed.  Sticker sales will resume when the trail reopen for the following season.
  • VASA is unhappy with the State of Vermont’s current ATV safety course an is gearing up to offer their own classroom based safety course.  VASA is currently looking for instructors to run the course.  If you are interested in helping out, please contact Danny Hale at the VASA main office. (802) 477-5075  Once this gets organized and off the ground, its possible that the course may be offered at several locations around the state.
  • The VASA annual meeting will be held on January 9th at the Canadian Club on Rt. 14 in Barre.  We will be voting for the offices of President and Secretary this year.  Check in is at 11am and the meeting will begin at 1pm.
  • New Hampshire is strongly considering eliminating reciprocity with Vermont beginning December 1st 2009.  If this happens, Vermont registrations will no longer be recognized by New Hampshire and Vermont registered machines will be required to purchase a NH non-resident registration to ride on NH trails.  Also, if this happens, NH registrations will not be valid in Vermont.  At the moment, we believe that this will not affect the annual Mt. Washington ride since Mt. Washington’s auto road is on private property.  We are following up on this to make sure.  More information will be posted about this if/when the decision is made.
  • The Agency of Natural Resources is holding it’s next public hearing regarding the ATV rule on November 3rd at 10am at the State House in Montpelier.
  • We discussed the possibility of the SVTR hosting the 2011 VASA annual meeting.  More research needs to be done to determine if this is something we want to proceed with.
  • Our next “Hands On” safety course is planned for spring 2010.
  • SVTR sweatshirts are being ordered this week.  We hope to have them ready for the next meeting.  More info will be posted once we get the pricing and delivery date.
  • A thank you letter from Newbrook Fire & Rescue was read thanking SVTR for our assistance during a recent rescue at Indian Love Call.
  • The club voted to donate $500 to the Newbrook fire dept for allowing us to use their meeting hall for our club meetings.  Also, SVTR will provide a free VASA and club membership to the dept once they acquire their new ATV.
  • SVTR is holding a raffle for a 2010 VASA and club membership.  Tickets are $5.00 each.  Drawing to be held at our Jan 15th meeting.  You do not need to be present to win.  All tickets must include Name, address and phone #.  Contact Deb Church or Lloyd Church to purchase your tickets.
