Just a reminder that there is a trail work party this coming weekend.

Your help is very much needed.

The culverts were delivered this morning and are already at the Joy Brook camp.

I take great pleasure in telling you all that the Hunting club will be providing lunches for both Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th.

I say to them “Thank You So Much” !

Ray Leeman Will be at the Joy brook Landing from 8:00 am until 9:30 am on Saturday the 29th. signing up memberships.

Please contact us soon so that we know how many to feed. If you leave there hungry it will be your fault.

I believe the menu is to be Hot Dogs, Chips, Beans, Drinks, and a batch of Donna’s home made Mac’n Cheese.

Work Party – Sat,Sun Aug 29-30, 2009

Yesterday trail boss Craig Stone and I went out to check a washout that we have on trail #1 just above the trail #4 split. Please use caution in this area. It is a single ATV wide for about a 12ft section.

Next weekend August 29 & 30th Craig will be in charge of a work party. Some members will be helping him work on the bridge project at the Joy Brook camp. Craig will ask some to possibly work on the washout and others to work on water bars, clear culverts, and cut back the brush growing into the trail edges.

Craig has asked that the work party starts at 8am he plans to start early. So if you show up later you can catch up to him at the Joy Brook camp.

We have allot of work that needs to be done. But short work can be made of this if we have a good showing of our members to lend a hand. I know this is a short notice but if you can give up one day or even half a day you will be amazed how much work will be done.

I ask all of you who can attend and help to please contact either Craig or myself. Our friends and members from the Hunting Club have offered to supply lunch for the members who attend Saturday’s work-party. So we need to get a head count so that they have an Idea as to how many to feed.

Recapping the 2009 Mount Washington ride.

On Sunday August 2nd, VASA held their annual ride up Mount Washington.  This year the rain held off long enough to allow for an excellent day on the mountain. The weather on the bottom was partly sunny with temperatures in the low 80’s.  At the top there were steady 30MPH winds with gusts well over 50MPH and the temperature was somewhere in the upper 40’s based on the feel.  Roughly 130 machines made the 8 mile trip up the mountain to the nearly 6300′ summit.  Approximatly 30 of those machines carried passengers.

I’m not sure how these numbers compare to previous years as this was the first time I attended this event.  We have some pictures from this years ride in our photo gallery, a video of my Rhino making the ascent below the photo gallery. Meeting called to order at: 7:15

Secretary’s report read and accepted.

Treasurers report read and accepted.

As of tonight’s meeting SVTR has 79 members with 66 VASA registered machines.

Presidents report:

The second T-Shirt order is in and available for sale.

New truck stickers are in and available for sale.

The Joy Brook bridge needs to be replaced within the next few months.  The plan is to remove the existing collapsed bridge and replace it with 2 48″ culverts and fill over the culverts with material found near the site.  The culverts are being donated to the club by the Reynolds.  Thank you!  We plan to complete this project in September.

VASA and the SVTR thanks everyone who wrote letters to the ANR in support of our cause.

Topsham Trail Riders are hosting their 2nd annual scavenger hunt on July 18 and 19.  Saturday 12 noon to noon on Sunday.  There will be overnight camping with a night ride.  Food available for sale will include: Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Chips, water and Soda.  Saturday night there will be a spaghetti dinner – all you can eat for $10.  Sunday morning free coffee and dounuts.
