June 16, 2009 Meeting Report

Meeting called to order at 7:15pm

Treasurer’s report read and accepted:

SVTR has 73 members and 60 VASA registered machines as of tonights meeting.

At the last meeting we voted to donate $50 to the Walk for Life.  Our contact at Walk for Life has been unreachable so it was decided to pass the donation on to a local team taking part in the Walk for Life on Friday 6/26.

Webmaster’s report – Skipped due to lack of internet access at the meeting hall tonight.  Web report will be posted below the meeting report later on.

Secretary’s report read and accepted.

President’s report:

There was some discussion about the public hearing by the Agency of Natural Resources (ANR) held on Monday 6/15.  Nine SVTR members attended the hearing in support of opening Vermont state forests to ATVs for the purpose of creating connector trails to help link existing trail systems currently on private land.  Written comments are still being accepted by the ANR until Monday 6/22.  Please send your thoughts on the subject to the ANR by Monday.  We need all the help we can get!

Anyone interested in training for a Community Emergence Response Team (CERT) ?  If we have 10 or more members interested in receiving training and being available to respond when needed, we can set up training for those interested.  Please contact Lloyd Church if your interested.  If we get enough interest, we will persue training.

VASA has purchased their new building in Barre VT.  The most recent board of directors meeting was held at the new building.  Renovations are under way and VASA plans on moving into their new home next week.  There are plans to rent the downstairs as office space to help offset the costs.  Please be aware that responses from VASA may be a little slow over the next week or two as VASA moves and settles into their new home.  For now, VASA may be contacted via their existing phone # but that may change after the move.  If/When their phone # changes, we will post the new contact information here.  You can always get their most current contact information from their website at vtvasa.org.

Side x Sides will be permitted at the Mount Washington ride on Aug. 2nd.  If your planning on attending this ride and are in need of accommodations for the nights before or after the ride, please make your reservations soon as rooms fill up early.  YThe cost to participate in the ride is $20 per machine and $7 per additional passenger.  Only factory 2up or Side by Sides are permitted to carry a passenger. (No after market add on seats permitted).  SVTR will be serving food at the base after the ride.  Cost is $4 – $5 per person.  Several of our members are planning a trip to West Fairlee on Sat Aug 1st for a ride and chicken BBQ hosted by the West Fairlee Fire Dept. and will make the trip to Mt Washington from there on the 2nd.  If you are interested in joining the group headed to W. Fairlee on the 1st, contact Lloyd for more information.

OLD BUSINESS:

Our next ATV safety class has been postponed until late September.

New SVTR decal design has been reviewed and approved for purchase in three sizes.  These should be available for purchase by our next meeting.  The decals are based on our old logo design with some color changes and minor design changes to make the design more compatible with the decal printers process.  They look great!  I will post more info on these as the details become available.

Nancy powers has offered to take up the task of getting our meeting notices and other press releases passed on to various local newspapers for their community calendars.

NEW BUSINESS:

We have sold many of our first batch of new T-Shirts and it was decided tonight to place another order for the most popular sizes to replenish our stock.

Meeting adjourned at 8:15
