Dear Southern Vermont Trail Riders,
My name is Gene Hitchcock.
I represent the staff of the Windsor County Agricultural Fair. It’s a small,
2-day fair that features agriculture, livestock, country living, outdoor
activities, and family fun. This year’s fair is on Saturday and Sunday, July
11th & 12th. It will be held in Springfield, VT, at Barlow’s Fields, on
Eureka Rd. We’re open 10-7 on Saturday and 10-4 on Sunday. Admission is
$6.00 for adults and $2.00 for under 12.
Free parking, good food, live music, etc. The fair is completely
not-for-profit. Everyone on the staff volunteers their time. All proceeds
from the fair go right back into the fair’s operational fund.
I want to let you know about the ATV Obstacle Course we are running as one of
our main events at the fair. It will be open to the public.
Anyone at least 18 yrs old can ride their own ATV in the competition, helmets
are mandatory. Machines don’t have to be registered, since we are on private
property. We have plenty of parking and a place to unload machines. The
course will be set up as a timed event. Only one person will go through the
course at a time (no head-to-head racing). Each rider will get to make
several runs, and their best single time will be posted. The rider with the
fastest time will win. I believe there will several classes to accommodate
different sized machines.
Winners will receive ribbons, and maybe a trophy.
We hope to have a good event, and if successful, it will become an annual
event. If you would like to help sponsor the event (donate time, money,
prizes, etc., that would be awesome), but we really just want help with
publicity. We also rent space at the fair for organizations like yours to
promote their agenda. We offer a 10×10 space under one of our tents for
$60/weekend (that includes a 6′ table and chairs). It’s a great deal.
Keep up the good work, and thanks for your time. Hope I see you at the fair.
