Work Party – Sat Jun 22

Ray Leeman will be holding a work party on Saturday, June 22.

Tools for the day will be: weed whackers, lopers and other tools for small brush.  Also as the trails are still very wet, please do what you can to minimize the damage as you pass through wet areas.  If you see water bars that need help, please do what you can to fix them up.

There are a number of areas that need attention and task lists will be available at the trail head.

As usual, meet at the Joy Brook trail head at 9 am.  Bring drinks and a lunch or visit either of our destinations, the Stuffed Bun or the Dam Diner, for lunch.

UPDATE From Lloyd:

Our trails are open but keep in mind the Miller Farm Trailhead is still closed until further notice.

Please be advised there will also be work on the Trail 2 bridge leading to the Stuffed Bun. Signs are already up showing a detour around the construction site. Because the majority of the work is heavy equipment, I do not need extra help at this point. However, because of the condition of the trails, our main focus should be on assisting Ray in getting the trails in order.

For all attending the work party, please do not park near the concrete blocks, picnic tables or I-beams, as we will need this area for the construction.

Deb Church will be available from 8am till 10:30am at the trailhead if anyone needs to sign up or re-sign their SVTR/VASA 2013 membership.

Work Party and Club Cookout this weekend.

svtr_work_partyWe will be holding another work party this Sat and Sun 5/18 & 19 to finish cleaning up the brush and repairing the water bars in preparation for opening the trails for the season.  We will also have our first of the season cookout on Saturday.  The club will provide burgers, hot dogs and chicken.  Bring your own (non alcoholic) drinks and a dish to share.img_3220

First 2013 SVTR Work Party scheduled

svtr_work_partyFirst SVTR work party will be the first weekend in May 5/4/13, 5/5/13 9am and the following weekend 5/11/13 and 5/12/13 at the Joy Brook Landing. Both weekends will be weather dependent and a cancellation notice will go out to the work party mailing list if necessary. Official Trail opening will be determined after the work parties.

VASA Annual Meeting – Saturday January 19, 2013

Hello SVTR Friends and members-

The 2013 VASA Annual meeting is this Saturday 1/19.  Registration and refreshments at 11:00 am. Meeting will begin promptly at 12:00 noon.

Meet VASA officers, board members, staff, volunteers and members. Celebrate the accomplishments of 2012 and learn about our plans for 2013. Election of officers will occur- this year the positions of Vice President and Treasurer as well as Board Member at Large are up for election. All current members from 2012 are entitled one vote in the election. Past officers Steve Carlin (VP) and Gary Nolan (T) have announced their intent to run for re-election. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor.

 

Here are the directions to the 2013 VASA Annual Meeting.  This years meeting is being held at the Montpelier Elks Club at 203 Country Club Road, Montpelier, VT 05602.

For everyone without GPS, here are some directions:

From Interstate 89 and Montpelier:

Take Exit 8 on I-89.
Stay Straight onto River street, Continue straight through the traffic circle. Drive about 1/8 of a mile, Turn left onto Country Club Rd.

 

From Barre:

Take 302 West all the way to the traffic circle, take the first exit onto River Street, drive about an 1/8 of a mile and turn left onto Country Club Rd.

From Route 2 West:

Drive towards Montpelier, about an ½ mile past Capitol City Auto on the right, take a right onto Country Club Rd.
