President’s report:

  • The next VASA Big Event will be held on Aug 11, 2012
  • VASA Annual Meeting will be held at the Canadian Club in Barre, VT on Jan 14, 2012
  • Elections will be held for both President and Secretary positions.
  • Guest Speaker will be Justin Lilly from Tread Lightly
  • Voting on wether or not VASA should require helmets on the trails.
  • 3 Violations will result in removal from VASA for 1 year.
  • There will be no Jan and Feb SVTR meetings.
  • Dec SVTR meeting will be our Xmas party.  Bring a dish to share.

Oct 20, 2011 Meeting Report

Vice Presidents Report:

Still looking for a matching program for a $500 donation to help the vistims of the Irene flooding.

Presidents Report:

No VASA information this month.

VASA is conducting a safety awareness survey.

The 2012 Mt Washington ride will be 7/29/2012.  Tickets will be sold at the bottom from 8Am till 1Pm.  Ticket prices will be $25 per operator and $10 per passenger.

West River Snow Goers snowmobile club donated $100 as a thank you for the trail maintenance that we do.  A big THANK YOU goes out to the West River Snow Goers club!!

Old Business: NONE

New Business:

The general concensus between the trail boss’ is that the trail system should be reopened for the next two weeks until we close for rifle season.

Next work park party is Sat 10/29.  We will be removing rocks from the trails.  Gloves and rakes will be the tools of the day.  Meet at Joy Brook landing at 9am.

Trail work has been done on Trails 1, 7 and 4 with an excavator.  The bottom of trail 3 where it crosses Joy Brook has been built up in an attempt to keep the brook from flowing down trail 1.

50/50 pot was $40

SVTR trails are closed

The Southern Vermont Trail Riders trail system in Townshend Vermont will remain closed due to storm damage until work can be completed a number of serious washouts. We also must repair many of our water bars and clear debris from culverts. We are working on the washouts this coming weekend and will post a followup after the work party.  We hope to reopen our trails as soon as possible but we need to make sure that trail conditions are safe and that we will not be doing further damage by reopening the trails.

Anyone who is interested in helping with the repairs can contact Lloyd Church or Ray Leeman to let them know you are available.  The work party will assemble at our Joy Brook landing at 9am on Saturday 9/17.

ALERT: ATV Stolen

A 2005 Kawasaki 500 was stolen from the property of Rob Robinson on North St. in East Dover during or after the recent flooding.  The ATV is Kawasaki Green, has a broken speedometer and aluminum rims.  Anyone with any information please contact the local police.

VASA Ride at Mt Washington!

VASA Ride at Mt Washington!

VASA staff will be at the base of the mountain selling tickets from 8 am until 1 pm. This is a great experience! Please see rules and specifics below.

Ticket Prices: $23/operator $8/passenger. You must be a current VASA member in order to participate.


1.)Speed Limit is 20-25 MPH
2.)No standing while driving
3.)No Off Road Riding! Stay on road surface.
4.)Travel in single file at all times
5.)All ATVs must have current registration and VASA membership at the ride
6.)All participants need to purchase the proper tickets before riding up the mountain. Cost is $23 for operators and $8 for passengers.
7.)All ATV operators must have a valid drivers license and passengers are ONLY allowed on factory 2-up machines.
8.)Head lights must be on at all times.
9.)No coasting in neutral.
10.)Maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
*** Note: 35% hard packed gravel and 65% paved.
