Work Party – April 25 & 26

Good Morning SVTR Members

Just to remind you that on April 25 and 26 we are having our first of the year Work party.

As some of you may know we need to replace the bridge near the Joy Brook Camp. Because of higher water this time of year. this will Not happen until July or August. I think allowing the water to recede will make the replacement easier and safer.

For those of you who are attending a work party for the first time this is how it will work.

Saturday April 25 at 9:30 in the morning we will meet at the Joy brook trail-head   ( PLEASE DO NOT UNLOAD YOUR MACHINE’S YET ).

Because you must have a valid SVTR and VASA registered machine to be on our trails I will be signing up new and old registrations both mornings at the Joy Brook trail-head.  Please remember, we need a photocopy of your current state registration for your machine when you sign up.

We will pass around a sign in sheet.

We will discuss the work that needs to be done and form onto 5, 6, or 7 person teams and head into your assigned work area. Each team will have an assigned trail boss.

Some of us will leave the trail-head and drive to the area of our landowners house, and unload, form into groups and work our way back to the Miller farm Trail-head. Once we get there we will separate sending some down the trail-head entrance road and others will continue down the trail.

Accurate maps will be provided to all who need them.

Sunday the 26th our work party will start at the Joy brook Trail-head and again we will form separate work parties and move out from there.
This weekends work parties will be a bring your own lunch and drinks type work party. I think because we have a tremendous ice storm in early winter we just may be a little busy.

On the following weekend we will meet again at the Joy Brook trail-head at 9:30 am and do it again…

On Sunday May 3rd I’ll bring a bag of hot dogs and some rolls and we will have a cook out at noon.
Please remember that work parties are on a weather permitting basis.
Tools of the trade are;

1 – Legal ATV.

2 – Chain saw, Weed whacker w/blade, Brush clippers, Shovels, or a Stone rake.

3 – Your Lunch.

Please remember that we will not open our trails until they are cleared of debris and water bars are in place and working properly.

I hope to see as may of you there as possible. Please show your support…

Thanks to all.

Lloyd Church    President    Southern Vermont Trail Riders.
