It’s time to mark your calendar for the 2010 Vermont Trail Symposium!
We’re so excited to be planning this event for October 16th and 17th at the NorthWoods Stewardship Center! See our poster below for the details!
We’re asking you to help spread the word by printing out the poster and hanging it up anywhere you think would attract trail enthusiasts and professionals. There’s something for everyone! We’re offering workshops on Hybrid Trail Contracting, Universally Accessible Trails, Wetland Crossings, the Recreation Trail Program grant process, and much, much more! On Saturday night, the band Phineas Gage will be putting on a great show- make sure to bring your dancing shoes!Don’t forget to plan on trying out a new trail activity on Sunday: canoeing, mountain biking, even ATV rides! Check out the attached schedule- it is subject to change, but we definitely have some great options!
This year we’re offering a discount to those who send in their registration forms before October 2nd. We’ll take $5.00 off the cost of admission! Now that’s a deal! Those of you who worked on a trail crew in 2010 will receive half-price admission ($15 for members, $17.50 for non-members) as our way of saying thanks for all the hard work you put in. As a special incentive this year, Kingdom Trails will be offering 2 Free Admission Tickets to each participant, to be used at any time for mountain biking or cross-country skiing. What are you waiting for? Register now by using the attached form, or go to www.vermonttrailsandgreenways.org
Lodging is available either in the area, or at NorthWoods Stewardship Center. Primitive lodging is available there free of charge. This would include tent camping or rolling out your sleeping pad and bag in the Center Building. For more comfy options check out: www.islandpond.com/lodge or www.nekchamber.com
If you are involved with a trail-related organization or group that puts out a newsletter or have a local newspaper you feel would want to print a story about the Symposium, please feel free to use the attached press release! You are also encouraged to add us to your group’s online calendar of events.
The Symposium is also an occasion to recognize some of the fine individuals and work being done in the trail community. Awards are given in six categories: Individual Leader, Organization, Project of the Year, Community, Council, and Volunteer. If you know of a group or individual who is deserving of a Trails & Greenways Award, honor their good work. Go to our online survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CouncilAwards to nominate your favorite people and projects on the trail!
Friends, this is going to be one trail of a time! If you’re interested in volunteering, have some good offerings for our silent auction, or want to just be more involved, please let us know! Contact our Symposium Czar Walter Opuszynski at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ve got some fun things planned, and we hope you can join us! Share this email far and wide- let’s make 2010 the best Trail Symposium yet!
